Shaping bread dough to rise in a bread pan is an important step in the bread baking process. Included in the process is dividing and weighing the dough to have uniform loaves, shaping, pinching and placing the dough in the bread pan.
It is necessary to oil the countertop prior to putting any dough on the counter, as well as oiling one's hands. If you don't you will have a sticky mess that is almost impossible to work with.
