Revival Compilations By Dan

Revival And Reformation Quotations

"The time has come for a thorough reformation to take place. When this reformation begins, the spirit of prayer will actuate every believer and will banish from the church the spirit of discord and strife. Those who have not been living in Christian fellowship will draw close to one another. One member working in right lines will lead other members to unite with him in making intercession for the revelation of the Holy Spirit. There will be no confusion, because all will be in harmony with the mind of the Spirit. The barriers separating believer from believer will be broken down, and God’s servants will speak the same things. The Lord will co-operate with His servants. All will pray understandingly the prayer that Christ taught His servants: “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10."

Testimonies, Vol. 8, 251,1

Introduction

Psalms 85:4-7 "Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease. 5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations? 6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? 7 Shew us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation."

"Isaiah 57:15 "For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones."

Habakkuk 3:2 (KJV) 2 "O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy."

Luke 11:9-13 (NKJV) 9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

Revival is the GREAT need of the church! The Holy Spirit is the great agent of revival. According to Luke 11:9-13, God is more willing to grant the Holy Spirit than parents are to give good gifts to their children. Accordingly, the presence of the Holy Spirit should be a very strong and visible indicator of God's people. Unfortunately that is not true, and the church, therefore, is busily seeking and praying for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Revival isn't some kind of "feel good" or mystical experience, it is defined as a revival of "true godliness." One person defined revival as a "new beginning of obedience to God."

The quote that best summarizes revival in the writings of Ellen White is the following:

"A revival of true godliness among us is the greatest and most urgent of all our needs. To seek this should be our first work. There must be earnest effort to obtain the blessing of the Lord, not because God is not willing to bestow His blessing upon us, but because we are unprepared to receive it. Our heavenly Father is more willing to give His Holy Spirit to them that ask Him, than are earthly parents to give good gifts to their children. But it is our work, by confession, humiliation, repentance, and earnest prayer, to fulfill the conditions upon which God has promised to grant us His blessing. A revival need be expected only in answer to prayer. While the people are so destitute of God’s Holy Spirit, they cannot appreciate the preaching of the Word; but when the Spirit’s power touches their hearts, then the discourses given will not be without effect. Guided by the teachings of God’s Word, with the manifestation of His Spirit, in the exercise of sound discretion, those who attend our meetings will gain a precious experience, and returning home, will be prepared to exert a healthful influence." {1SM 121.1}

Here we see that revival is our greatest and most urgent need! We also learn that seeking revival should be our first work. We also learn that it will take effort—prayer and other effort—to bring revival. But we are assured that our Father in Heaven is so very willing to send the Holy Spirit. But—and this is a huge BUT—there are certain conditions—confession, humiliation, repentance and earnest prayer—to meet the conditions upon which God is willing to send revival.

Accordingly this page is all about seeking revival in the manner described in the quote in first Selected Messages. The Revival Now! booklet—located elsewhere in this section—is my attempt to share how to seek after revival and how to experience the power necessary to do so successfully. The audio sermons are on various aspects of revival. The little compilations are very helpful too. Of course the most significant resources are those of Ellen White. You will also find excellent sermons from other Adventist writers who are highly recommended. I hope you are blessed and significantly helped in your quest to seek revival.—Dan

Audio Revival Resources

Here you will find the audio of several revival series I have given in various places, including "Revival Now!," "Praying For Revival," and "Restore The Glory." The Lord really blessed these series and I believe you will be blessed listening to them.

Revival Compilations by Dan Augsburger

Over the years I have developed quite a few booklets on revival. This includes some of them, including the 64 page Revival Now! booklet that was available at the General Conference session at San Antonio. You will be greatly blessed studying these as well. They are available for download in multiple formats, some of them are also in Spanish and French, and all come with line numbers to make it easy to study them in groups.
