Notice Of Minnie MacGuire At Loma Valley Convolescent Home in 1987

"This spry, dainty little lady is Mrs. Minnie Mac Guire, widow of Elder Meade MacGuire, who for many years was a beloved leader in the organized work of Seventh-day Adventists. When the health of Elder and Mrs. MacGuire began to fail, they both made their home in the Linda Valley Convalescent Home in Loma Linda. After two years of pleasant associations, Elder MacGuire passed to his rest, awaiting the glorious resurrection morning. Mrs. MacGuire is still in remarkably good health and recently celebrated her 97th birthday."—Albertine J. Tilstra.

His Obituary

Notice in the Australasian Record

"The name of Meade MacGuire will be familiar to Adventists around the world, especially if they can remember back a generation or so. Pastor MacGuire was a key figure in the development of the Missionary Volunteer Department, where his leadership and discernment, along with his writings were responsible for much permanent consolidation. For fourteen years, from 1912, Pastor MacGuire was the General Conference MV secretary, relinquishing that position to become associate secretary of the Ministerial Association at the General Conference. In 1936 he became a field secretary, a position which he held until his retirement in 1950. He had been in the organized work for fifty-six years. On August 30 this year, at the age of ninety-two, he closed his earthly pilgrimage, and now awaits the call of his returning Lord."—Australiasian Record, October 9, 1967
